Description

Students will examine Pop Art, specifically the works of Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenberg, which uses everday objects as art. Students will then create work in the Pop Art style using painting and digital editing software. The artwork will be created from photographs taken by the students on a digital camera, edited using software and finally painted to further alter the photographs.

Supporting Resource

Technology and the arts seem to be a natural fit. New technologies have created opportunities for students to express their creativity in even more ways. Also, when art teachers use technology in the classroom, they grab the attention of "Digital Natives" more easily. In addition, digital photography and editing are valid forms of visual art which should be taught to students.

Tried and True/

New and Innovative

New and Innovative. Though most students probably know how to use a digital camera, probably only a few will have used photo editing software. This will be a new skill. Additionally, students will apply a "tried and true" art technique, tempra paint, to their digitally altered work.
